Use the continuous tenses for actions in progress, so “we are dancing” means right now and “we were dancing” means at a moment in the past. One vocabulary point: a parade and a procession are both groups moving together, but a parade is festive with floats and music, while a procession is usually slower and more solemn, often religious.
